Victorian Melanoma Project
This Project, an idea in its embryonic phase at the moment. It began after the International melanoma Meeting in Brisbane in April 1994, when I was the only Plastic Surgeon from the south who was presenting at the meeting.

As similar programs have been established in Sydney and Brisbane, we have commenced the preliminaries with the Anti-Cancer Council and the Department of Surgery, Western Hospital under the former head Professor Thomas.

Launch of Victorian Melanoma Project
This was launched by me at the Western Hospital, Footscray on Wednesday, 26 th April 1995. Victorian Melanoma Project is a registered name with Western Hospital.

However having initiated also the Melanoma Unit at Peter MacCallum where it is a major clinical entity and all Melanoma cases are centered there, perhaps it is time to transfer the VMP under the care of Professor Thomas and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute.
